Susan’s Journey
I spent 30 days on my motorbike on a trip from Brisbane to Tasmania, Australia, with my husband Frank. I only had my licence for a short time and had never ridden a motorbike in my life.
I did this not for adventure and not for escape.
I did it to live the ideas from my book "From Stuck to Unstoppable" and apply the same principles I wrote about:
* Discipline over motivation
* Clarity through action
* Motivation
The journey showed me how resilient and determined I was to complete the trip. We rode 3,200 km (1,988 miles). I faced many obstacles, and at the start of each day, I felt anxiety for what was ahead. I'll share one lesson, one challenge and one unexpected insight.
Lesson:
Believe in yourself and focus on what's important. On my motorbike, I'm in control; no one else can point it in the direction I need to go, and no one can apply the focus needed to look ahead.
Challenge:
Road and weather conditions can change quickly. I needed to always be aware of my environment and anticipate obstacles.
Unexpected Insight:
I felt the fear and did it anyway and going beyond my comfort zone made me realise I can do anything if I put my mind to it.
It was great to read your book at the end of the new year, as it reminded me of things I need to change, embrace, and let go in my own business as well. You gave me a lot to think about, so thank you again for the opportunity!
